After a most memorable weekend in Jena at the Rosenkeller and then at the 20th Anniversary THIS IS SKA at the Wasserburg Rosslau, we are embarking on an intrepid three days of rock’n'roll mayhem playing at the wonderful Nibley Festival in Gloucestershire on July 1st with Scouting For Girls (among others), WITH FULL FORCE in Germany on July 2nd and then back to the UK for the legendary SouthCider Festival in Dorset on July 3rd with the Dub Pistols. See you all there!
Three great shows over the weekend starting with an amazing night headlining Umsonst & Draussen in the Westpark in Dortmund with The Rumjacks from Sydney, Australia on Thursday 5th May. A short drive to Düsseldorf and a return to the packed and sweaty Stone: im Ratininger Hof in the Altstadt after five-year plus absence. Lovely to see lots of old friends again. The weekend was rounded off on Saturday with an intimate show at the Exhaus in Trier supported by the fabulous Ivan Ivanowitsch und die Kreml Krauts. Thanks to everyone who came along!
Three Generations Of Ska
Friday 22 Apr 2016 at Under The Bridge, Stamford Bridge, Fulham Rd. London SW6 1HS
Tel 0207 957 8216
We are delighted to be included on the bill as the Third Generation with two Legends of Ska music , Neville Staple and Dandy Livingstone.
“Neville Staple enjoyed a pioneering career in the late ‘70s and 80’s as a member of the The Coventry Automatics, The Specials, & FunBoy3 continuing with various other collaborations during his solo career from the 90’s up to the present day. Following on from the 2009 Specials reunion and his departure from the band in late 2012, he continues to be a forerunner of the Ska movement, and continues to thrill audiences with his own excellent band at venues and festival appearances worldwide.
This is a world exclusive appearance by Dandy Livingstone, who is one of the iconic founders of the Ska Movement. Born in Jamaica, but relocating to the U.K. in the late ’50s at age 15, Livingstone cut his first single in 1963 while still at college, and over the next decade defined the U.K.’s reggae sound both as a singer and producer. Dandy of course is famous for his hits, Suzanne, Beware Of The Devil, and enduringly Rudy, A Message To You. This evening is dedicated to Ska, with two of its greatest legends and a new and up and coming band. Ska is one of the most versatile and long lasting genres of music alive today. It has derived from many influences, of which jazz, reggae, swing and punk would be the most prominent.” Courtesy of the Fulham Chronicle.
