Three Generations Of Ska
Friday 22 Apr 2016 at Under The Bridge, Stamford Bridge, Fulham Rd. London SW6 1HS
Tel 0207 957 8216
We are delighted to be included on the bill as the Third Generation with two Legends of Ska music , Neville Staple and Dandy Livingstone.
“Neville Staple enjoyed a pioneering career in the late ‘70s and 80’s as a member of the The Coventry Automatics, The Specials, & FunBoy3 continuing with various other collaborations during his solo career from the 90’s up to the present day. Following on from the 2009 Specials reunion and his departure from the band in late 2012, he continues to be a forerunner of the Ska movement, and continues to thrill audiences with his own excellent band at venues and festival appearances worldwide.
This is a world exclusive appearance by Dandy Livingstone, who is one of the iconic founders of the Ska Movement. Born in Jamaica, but relocating to the U.K. in the late ’50s at age 15, Livingstone cut his first single in 1963 while still at college, and over the next decade defined the U.K.’s reggae sound both as a singer and producer. Dandy of course is famous for his hits, Suzanne, Beware Of The Devil, and enduringly Rudy, A Message To You. This evening is dedicated to Ska, with two of its greatest legends and a new and up and coming band. Ska is one of the most versatile and long lasting genres of music alive today. It has derived from many influences, of which jazz, reggae, swing and punk would be the most prominent.” Courtesy of the Fulham Chronicle.
